The set-up of your greenhouse cabinet can be challenging, especially because there are a lot of varierities playing a part. Therefore it’s challenging to call out a blueprint of what you should do. There is simply not one answer. Here, you can read about varierities that influence each other and which elements you should take into consideration.
Is your greenhouse cabinet standing in direct sunlight or rather a low light nuck in your house? Is your greenhouse sealed with weather strips? That might influence the placement of your accessoires.
Do you have a tall greenhouse cabinet with a lot of vertical space? Then you might need to add more fans in comparison to a wide cabinet.
The steps to prepare your cabinet to become your greenhouse cabinet.
Choose your cabinet. We recommend to get a cabinet that’s made of metal and glass. It can also be done with a wooden cabinet, but it takes a lot of time to make it completely waterproof on the inside. You don’t want the mold issues, trust us.
Before putting together the cabinet, you best seal the little openings with weather stripping.
Determine where you are going to place your greenhouse cabinet inside your home. If you are not sure which things to take into consideration when placing your greenhouse cabinet, you can also look at the considerations.
Choose your equipment/accessoires. We recommend to use growlights, a humidifier, a heater and fans alltogether for the easiest (whole) climate control.
If you chose whatever equipment you want for your greenhouse cabinet, the next step is to drill a hole in your new greenhouse cabinet for the cables to make it outside of the cabinet. This can be intimidating, for I myself have postponed this for a while.
Choose your shelves. The most important thing you have to know when choosing shelves, is that the whole greenhouse cabinet needs air flow. You can get ‘full’ shelves with ventilation holes in them, or triangle shaped shelves. You could also choose for a metal rooster/tray. If you have a metal cabinet, you could use magnatic (herb-)shelves. You can even choose no shelves at all.
